Awkward TAs.
Today was just another day in the life of an awkward chem major, surrounded by many other awkward people chem TAs.
Earlier in the semester, I was creepily hit on by an old (~35yrs) grad student when he came over to my computer (we were working on computation molecular modeling), sat on the table top right next to my computer and said “Well that was an interesting lecture on p-orbitals…” and then continued to talk to me for the next 10 mins.
Today in lab, we got to do a fun experiment involving a spiro compound that broke the ring when exposed to UV light emitting different colors. Anyways, as I was waiting for my solution under the black light, a TA (different than p-orbitals) came over, stood next to me, said, “That’s really cool,” looked at me, then walked away. I then looked at another student in the class and she was laughing at my awkward moment. Awesome.
My question is, do I attract these chemistry people in some strange way? And if so, how do I make it stop? I would be flattered, but both of these guys were at least 30 so it’s a tad bit strange, given that I’m only 20…hmmm
Another thought, at some point in my life, I’m going to be one of those awkward chemistry TAs…great…
